Feel a little confused about Rafflecopter? Maybe you tried to enter a giveaway in the past but quickly became frustrated with the entry form. If so, I’d like to help! (And don’t worry — you’re not the only one!) With these tips, you’ll find it much easier to enter a Rafflecopter giveaway.
I use Rafflecopter for my giveaways because it helps to protect your privacy. Your login information (either Facebook or email) is not displayed publicly, unlike if you leave an email address in a comment.
I also use Rafflecopter because it allows multiple options for entering a giveaway. If you don’t use Twitter, you can still enter with the other choices. If you’re not comfortable leaving a public comment, there are other options.
Your Info is Safe
Rafflecopter says they will not use or sell your email address. I do see the addresses, but this is so I can contact the winner. I will not use your login email for any other purpose, and I will not sell or give it away, either.
Rafflecopter gives you two options to sign in: Facebook or email address. Either works fine. Again, this is primarily to provide a way to contact you if you win. Fill in the boxes for your choice (Facebook login information to connect to your Facebook, or name and email address), and the Rafflecopter should then display a list of options to enter the giveaway.
I generally include a question in the post so you’ll have something to comment on. You can also find the question in the Rafflecopter when you click the down arrow next to “Leave a blog post comment.”
To complete this entry, you’ll need to scroll down the post until you see the comment box. Leave a comment to answer the question, and click “post comment.” Then scroll back up to the Rafflecopter, click the down arrow to the right of “Leave a blog post comment” and then click the box that says, “I commented!”
Perhaps this is one of the easiest entries. You can click the down arrow to the right of “Visit _____ on Facebook” to open the details, and then you’ll see a button right in the middle that says, “Visit Us.” Clicking this button will open the Facebook page (the author’s or mine), where you can “like” the page, like or comment on posts, etc. as you choose. When you are finished and return to the Rafflecopter, that option will show that you have completed the entry.
Twitter is another simple entry for those who use Twitter. Clicking the down arrow to expand the details will show a button to click to complete the action, whether following an account or sharing a tweet. If you’re clicking to follow, that button is already linked to the right Twitter account. Easy! And if you’re sharing a tweet, the button will open a suggested tweet. You can either share it as it is, or edit it and then share.
The challenge with sharing a tweet is finding the URL to copy and paste into the Rafflecopter to verify your entry. Once you share your tweet, if you look at it in your Twitter feed, you’ll see an icon with three horizontal dots on the right hand side below the tweet. Click the dots, and in the menu that opens, click “Copy link to tweet.” This is the link you want to paste into the Rafflecopter box to verify that you did indeed share the tweet.
For these entries, you can either friend or follow, whichever you’re more comfortable with. We just want to be available to connect and share! There will be a link in the description. Copy and paste this in a new browser tab. Friend or follow, and then back on the Rafflecopter, click the “Enter” button to complete that entry.
To sign up for newsletters, you can simply enter your email address (and name, if you’d like more personal messages 🙂 ) in the boxes at the top of the sidebar, or on the author’s website if you’re looking for their newsletters.
I do use (and probably many others do, as well) a confirmation step to help prevent spam. This means you need to find that first email and click the link to confirm that you really do use that email address.
Are you a pin fan? We can connect there, too! On these options, you’ll find the address for the boards (mine or the author’s) in the Rafflecopter. Copy and paste the address into a new tab, and you’ll be able to follow some or all of the boards you’d like. Then go back to the Rafflecopter and click the “Enter” button to indicate you’ve completed that entry.
