A Love That Lasts (formerly A Holiday Proposal)
by Kimberly Rose Johnson
From the back cover:
Holly Miller Is Steering Clear of Mistletoe
Just out of nursing school, Holly can’t risk any distractions. She knows a slipup could cost a life. Like the mistake she made years ago that still plagues her conscience. When she runs into old high school friend Matthew Cook, she hesitates to let romance into her life. Even if the handsome baker is as delectable as his fabulous pastries.
She didn’t notice him back in high school, but things have sure changed. Now that Matthew has Holly’s attention, maybe the holiday season is the perfect time for him to show her that she deserves to have it all—work, family, friends and a love that lasts a lifetime.

Perhaps it’s cool where you are, but as I write this it’s 105 outside! Fall is not here yet, but I am so ready for cooler weather. Reading a holiday story with its talk of ice skating, snow, and hot cocoa will have to suffice.
It is, however, back-to-school season, so this was a great time to pick up a light, quick read. Holly and Matthew’s story is easy to jump back into if you must set it down, but it’s likely you’ll read it in a sitting or two.
Reunited classmates, long-term misunderstandings, and an adorable niece combine for a sweet story. One caution, though… A Holiday Proposal left me seriously craving cinnamon rolls and fresh snickerdoodles!
Grab a cup of something warm (and maybe a cinnamony sweet treat to curb the cravings) and enjoy a brief respite from the busyness — whether it’s Christmas or the dog days of summer!
