Love blooms in a variety of places… I am happy to introduce you to a new author today! Jenna Victoria’s new novel, Love Among the Lilacs, released just last month, and she is visiting today not only to share a little about herself, but she’s also offering to give away a copy of Love Among the Lilacs. Before we begin, let’s take a quick look at the story.

Meet Jenna Victoria, author of 'Love Among the Lilacs,' and enter to win a copy!Bookkeeper Mollie Wright knows about living on the streets, and her purchase of sweet Lilac Cottage is a dream come true. She is determined to stay and fight when a legal error puts her ownership at risk. Attorney Sean Grady never wanted his great-aunts to sell their cottage in Westchester County, New York, so when a paperwork snafu puts the deal on hold, he moves swiftly to evict the pretty, feisty squatter. Mollie finds unexpected allies in Grady Cove neighbors and a member of Sean’s own family but knows the clock is ticking. Will a theft and her past secrets force a showdown to heartache, or will Mollie and Sean discover home is truly where your heart is?

Welcome, Jenna! Tell us a little about Love Among the Lilacs. Do you have personal experience with any of the events in your story, and if so, could you share about that?

A good friend and her son became unexpectedly homeless. I helped look for available resources and the lack of emergency housing, food, and financial help in her community was disturbing. The town is unable to handle all the requests for help – each shelter was overcrowded and honestly, described as a place where crime was rampant. It was an eye-opener. Thankfully a relative stepped up and they slept on couches until she found another apartment. This gave me insight into the struggle of families who are one paycheck away from not having a roof over their heads. This is echoed all over the USA. I try to regularly give household items to homeless programs now.

So often we are unaware of situations like that because we’ve never taken the time to learn–or been forced into it! We’d love to know a little more about you. What is your:

Favorite season? Summer

Favorite beverage? Hot cup of strong coffee with fat free 1/2 & 1.2

Favorite movie? Any of the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit series

Favorite vacation destination? Easy! Walt Disney World

Favorite ice cream flavor? Cake Batter from Cold Stone Creamery

Did you have a favorite story/book as a child? Why was it a favorite?

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle. I identified with 13-year-old Meg Murry having to deal with loss and the inexplicitly of life through a teenager’s eyes. The fact that she was front-and-center in a fantasy scifi book at a time (1969-ish) when boy protagonists were more common, was a plus. I connected to its theme of good over evil and L’Engle using a quote from the Bible about God choosing the foolish of the world to confound the wise, and the weak to defeat the strong. It resonated with me at a time when circumstances were out of control; (the death of my 4-year-old sister, and my parent’s subsequent divorce). I cannot wait for the new film being released in 2018!

Author Jenna Victoria (Love Among the Lilacs) and her husband renew their wedding vows on a hot air balloon in Idaho.Oh my! I can certainly see how that could have been an encouraging story for you at that point. Would you tell us about something crazy that you’ve done or would love to do?

On a vacation trip out West, my husband and I renewed our wedding vows in a hot air balloon flying over the Idaho side of the Grand Tetons. Balloons go very high up!

How fun! And what a beautiful location for a hot air balloon ride! Can you share about a time when you knew that God was in control and/or had your back?

During my ongoing metastatic triple negative breast cancer fight, He and I have been inseparable. I feast on His word and pray through the day. He lets me know, “I am enough” – and it is 100% true. As long as I have Jesus, nothing else matters or satisfies.

Those really hard times do help grow our faith in ways it wouldn’t otherwise. Can you give any hints about what you’re working on now?

Forget Me not Romances has contracted four more releases for 2016:

Wilderness Wedding (set in Glacier National Park), Gem Mountain Romance (set in Idaho), Her Hidden Heartbreak (a secret identity story) and The Housekeeper’s Heart (a Downton Abbey type romance)

It sounds like you’re a very busy lady! Thanks so much for taking the time to visit with us today, Jenna!

Your turn! Have you been in a hot air balloon? Would you want to?

More about Jenna:

Jenna Victoria, author of 'Love Among the Lilacs'Ever since her grandfather co-created Twinkies, Snowballs & Hostess cupcakes for Intercontinental Baking Company, circa 1955, Jenna has yet to taste a cake she hasn’t liked. Jenna  writes books for readers who enjoy sweet & compelling romances, and also for those who look for her  “fiction that feeds your faith” titles – happily-ever-after romance & romantic suspense stories with a Christian world view. Her stories emulate those she enjoys reading…with a heroine who is in grave danger & a hero who is smart enough to get out of her way as she kicks butt & takes down names… and those that feature  satisfying fairy-tale-endings.

Her clean romances won’t put you into a diabetic coma, and her faith-based romances aren’t preachy or unrealistic. It is her glad purpose to glorify God and His sacrificial love through His Son, Jesus Christ through books that illustrate hope & peace in unbearable situations. Her first triple negative breast cancer diagnosis in 2012 has led to surgeries, radiation,  reoccurrences and incurable metastasis. Still, Jenna continues to praise God and trust His oversight in her life; and continues to write more books.

My friend Harriet celebrated her 70th birthday in a hot air balloon.
We do everything together but it was her friend Roberta who went with her.
I like my feet planted on the ground.

    • I hear ya!
To be honest My husband barely could get his vows out… he was gripping the sides of the basket with both hands lol.
Surprisingly I wasn’t afraid – it was like floating on a cloud.

  2. Jan Hall

I have not been in a hot air balloon yet. I would love to do it.

    • Sorry for duplicate reply.
The entire journey went by so fast. It included seeing them fill up the balloon, having a certified airplane pilot do the navigation, and a truck follow us to wherever we finally landed.

  3. Anna

    Thank you for sharing! <3

    • Anna – if you ever get a chance to go to a balloon show, I’d recommend it. All the “wows” without the fear of heights 🙂

  4. What a wild and wonderful way to renew your vows. We lived in an area where hot air balloons
were all over the sky. I’ve loved watching, but heights and I don’t go together. I like the
fact that Jenna did such a good job on her research regarding homeless people. My hubby was
in charge of the largest homeless shelter in Pontiac years ago, and it isn’t just your ‘skid-row-bums’
as it was when his grandfather started this ministry, rather people from professional and sports
fields…and women who have to escape abuse. It’s not a fun subject to talk about, but it is a daily
problem and I’m glad it played such a good part in her novella, Love Among the Lilacs.

    • Thank you Diane. Homelessness can happen in an instant, to anyone. I have a slight acquaintance on FB who asked me for help, she is a fellow cancer patient but in Texas. I immediately got onto the internet and phone and got her emergency housing and fast tracked her need for services. Imagine not having anyone to even ask for help, or having no access to internet resources

  5. Dianne Casey

I have never been in a hot air balloon and I don’t think I would want to, I’m not that crazy about heights. We did give my Dad a hot air balloon ride for his 80th birthday and he loved it.

    • Dianne, what a special gift for your father…I’ll bet he enjoyed every moment.

  6. Elizabeth

I have not been in a hot air balloon, but I think it’d be a cool experience. This looks like a great book and is going to the top of my TBR list!

    • Elizabeth, check to see if there are any balloon festivals nearby your community. We had saved up little by little to afford it. When you think of the high cost of balloon parts (rigging, sturdy passenger basket, propane and enormous silk/nylon fabric “balloon” material ~ plus the professional pilot credentials of the operator), it’s easy to see why ballooning is a higher cost adventure.
Thank you for your kind words about my book. I look forward to hearing how you liked it!
