From the back cover:
Will Joel help Mara or take everything she has left? Mara Keegan is an uber-successful mother and a widow of three years. She’s been chasing success and all the “good things in life” for her family to make up for the cruel whim God played on them by taking her husband. In an effort to be the perfect mom, she decides to make a photo memory quilt, a graduation present for her daughter, Cadence.
She’s not yet finished when she experiences a heart attack. How can Mara trust the one man who nearly destroyed her life and business? While Mara recuperates, she’s forced to face her physically and spiritually broken heart. The memory quilt must be finished in time for Cadence’s big day, but Mara struggles with her burgeoning feelings for the man who must keep Mara’s business going during her recovery, Joel Ryan. Can Joel find his way into Mara’s heart and onto Cadence’s quilt? Or will he betray a vulnerable woman and her children?
About the author:
Angela Breidenbach is a bestselling author and host of Grace Under Pressure Radio (iTunes/Google Play or on her website) and the Christian Authors Network president. She’s co-hosted on Coach Talk Radio with Sandra Beck in the 13-part Writing Series and has a new show called Historically Speaking where Angela shares true love stories from history and genealogy tips to uncover your ancestors’ stories. She’s also a professional book judge of nearly 1,000 titles and a best-selling author of sweet contemporary and historical romances as well as several non-fiction titles, articles, and compilations from David C. Cook, Guideposts, Barbour Books, United Methodist Publishing House, and more. She’s even authored a few greeting cards from Warner Press. Don’t miss a-Muse-ing wit and wisdom on social media between Muse & Writer, Angela and her fe-lion personal assistant. Angela and her husband live in Montana, raised six children together, and in addition to rescue fe-lion, Muse, she also has two miniature horses that like to climb the porch and knock to come in…they’ve invaded the house exactly twice panicking Muse in the process!
When we push ourselves too hard, something is bound to bring us to a halt. For Mara, her sudden stop became a true wake-up call.
A Healing Heart introduces us to older characters (late 30s, early 40s — older for main characters, not for life… 😉 ) who have experienced some tough stuff. Honestly, by this age, who hasn’t?! Mara and Joel each have hurts in the past, and they must find a way to work through those before they can move on.
Joel is Mr. Perfect (maybe too perfect?) as he swoops in to save the day — a “real” Superman for Mara and her kids. Mara’s independent, driven personality finds accepting a “Superman” a bit challenging.
Realistic, heart-warming, at times humorous, and at times tear-tugging, A Healing Heart is a sweet story, especially if you are looking for characters who are dealing with the realities of a (little bit) later part of life.
