Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:12-14 (HCSB)
I don’t know about you, but for me, this year has flown by. I can’t fathom that we are in the final days of 2015. As a child I remember hearing my grandparents say how fast time flies as you get older. I couldn’t imagine how it would be any different because of age. After all, it took forever for time to pass when I was looking forward to something like my birthday or Christmas. LOL.
Now here I am… a grandparent with sons in their 20’s, and I’m saying the same thing. “I can’t believe how fast time flies.” While I can’t grasp time in my hand to make it last longer, I can look ahead to the future and trust that God is already there at the same time as being with me now. He won’t allow things to happen without giving me the strength to get through them…. with His help. Boy do I need to be reminded of that right now.
We’ve been facing some tough times that have been beating me up emotionally. Each day I think I find a little glimmer of hope and something else happens to narrow that gap. It’s especially when we can’t see past our troubles that we need to consciously choose to trust God and look ahead to the future knowing He will meet our every need. Often it isn’t in our timing, but I’m praying that through the process, I learn the lessons God has for me. Believe me, I don’t want to be in God’s crucible a moment longer than I have to, to learn what He’s trying to show me. 🙂
My prayer for your 2016 is for you to be able to sense His peace and presence and know you can look ahead and trust He’ll meet your every need. In His timing.
