Have you read any of Vannetta Chapman’s books? She’s written quite a few. (You can find a complete list here: http://vannettachapman.com/book-list/) I finished her newest release, Hidden, last week, and I loved it! (You can find my review here.)
I’m very excited to introduce her to you today, so you can get to know her and her writing. She’s also generously offered to give away a copy of Hidden, so be sure to check out the Rafflecopter below to enter.
Chocolate. Always chocolate. No recipe required, just put chocolate on it!
I’m a cinnamon girl myself, but I bet a lot of readers would side with you on that one. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?
I love to travel and hope to visit England and Wales next spring. I also want to see Alaska and Yellowstone National Park. The list is actually endless.
Oooh, I love Yellowstone! Take me with you! What does your ideal writing space look like (whether you actually write in an area like this or not)? What do you have to have handy, and what would you surround yourself with to make it easiest, and most inspiring, to write?
My office is NOT the ideal writing space, but it’s not bad. Ideally I would have a few more windows, as I love natural light and more space because this dubs as my craft room and writing room. I do have lots of lamps, a nice comfy chair for editing, an iMac for writing, and plenty of books and music. There’s usually a cat lying across the keyboard and my big dog on the floor. So yeah—I guess it is close to perfect.
My cat loves my keyboard, too. I wonder what’s up with that? Tell us about Hidden. What inspired you to write this particular novel?
I had visited the Taos, NM area on my Honeymoon 15 years ago. I love the starkness and wildness of the desert meeting the mountains. The area and people captured my imagination, and I could just SEE the ultimate chase scene.
I haven’t been to Taos, but you described it so well, I could see it in my mind! Do you have a favorite character, from this or any of your previous novels? Why is this character your favorite?
I adore my gal, Dana Jacobs. She’s tough and smart and has risen to the top of her field as a local director of Homeland Security. But she’s also injured emotionally from some events in her past, things that she has managed to keep hidden from those around her—until she comes up against Chase Drogan.
Who is your favorite secondary character in this latest novel, and do you think you’ll include that character in a future story?
There are a lot of fun characters in this book, but Ben Marshall has a tie for first place in my heart. He’s a simple guy–just doing his job, but he believes that God guides his steps and that he has been placed on Dana’s team for a reason. He’s honest and true and faithful, everything a hero should be, though he still manages to struggle with “relationships.”
This is a change of genres for you – will you still be writing Amish fiction, or do you plan to stay with romantic suspense for a while?
I have 7 more Amish books coming out in the next two years, and I plan to write more. I’d also like to keep writing romantic suspense. Can you tell I like staying busy?
I’d say so! Thanks for taking time away from your writing to visit with us today!
You can enter to win a free copy of Hidden (your choice of paper or e-copy) through the Rafflecopter below.
