A week and a half ago I shared with you Misty Beller’s new book, The Lady and the Mountain Man, which she was kind enough to let me read before I could even buy it. I really enjoyed her story. (You can find my review here.) Now I have the privilege of sharing her with you, too! 🙂
Gideon, the handsome, quiet cowboy hero. He reminds me so much of my older brother, David! My brother was my best friend through my growing up years. When I started brainstorming Gideon’s character, I kept coming back to David’s personality. Maybe because I know him so well, I felt like I understood what made him tick. So, David, this one’s for you…
Gideon was a great hero – I’d have to agree! Who is your favorite secondary character, and do you think you’ll include that character in a future story?
Miriam, Gideon’s sister! She’s about sixteen and has such a fun, perky personality! She’s a great example of how the right outlook on life can carry you through even the toughest situations without bitterness. She’s grown up in the secluded mountain cabin on the ranch, and dreams of seeing new places. I wonder what might be in store for her in a future book as she comes of age? (hint, hint…)
Can you give any hints about your next book?
My next release will be coming from Prism Book Group in 2015, and is tentatively titled The Rancher Takes a Cook. Here’s a glimpse of the back cover copy:
When their home in South Carolina burns to the ground, Anna Stewart has no choice but to move with her 15-year-old brother to the wilds of a Texas ranch. Their prospects begin to look better, until the ranch owner’s son, Jacob O’Brien, shows up with his alarmingly blue eyes to put a kink in Anna’s well-controlled plans. When danger escalates in the form of a band of cattle thieves with deadly intent, can Anna learn to release control to God’s capable hands… and those of the blue-eyed cowboy who’s stolen her heart?
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?
Oh, I love to travel! I’ve been throughout the US, but never to Europe. I’d love to visit the old castles and estates in England or Ireland. And all that amazing historic architecture in Italy! (dreamy sigh…) There are so many places I’d love to visit, it’s too hard to choose one!
It’s been years since I’ve been to Europe, but that was definitely a trip I’ll never forget! So besides being here in the States, could you give us a peek into your writing world? What does your ideal writing space look like (whether you actually write in an area like this or not)? What do you have to have handy, and what would you surround yourself with to make it easiest, and most inspiring, to write?
I write best when I’m alone, with no distractions. My ideal setting would be outside, in a quiet comfy chair on the front porch. I like to sit Indian style with my laptop settled in front of me, a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate on the side table, and no noise except the occasional bird song or cicada. Ahhh…heaven.
I’m excited to giveaway a free copy of my new release, The Lady and the Mountain Man. You can enter through this Rafflecopter link, and one lucky winner will be randomly selected! Giveaway book format will be winner’s choice—paperback, Kindle, Nook, or other ereader (paperback not available outside the continental US). Enjoy!
A little more about Misty, and how you can keep in touch with her:
Misty Beller was raised on a farm in South Carolina, so her Southern roots run deep. Growing up, her family was close, and they continue to keep that priority today. Her husband and two daughters now add another dimension to her life, keeping her both grounded and crazy.
God has placed a desire in Misty’s heart to combine her love for Christian fiction and the simpler ranch life, writing historical novels that display God’s abundant love through the twists and turns in the lives of her characters.
Writing is a dream come true for Misty. Her family—both immediate and extended—is the foundation that holds her secure in that dream.
Thanks so much for visiting with us, Misty!
